One Potato Review
Small town life as depicted by the straight-talking, meticulous writer-and-illustrator team of Bonnie and Arthur Geisert. These are believers, still it’s not all paradise here: “A town’s business depends on the farmer’s good fortune. Rain can insure a good crop. A hailstorm, drought, or tornado can destroy it.” And yet: “On beautiful days the whole town is the children’s playground.” This book is is both educational and elegiac that way: it’s a tempting ideal, though once in a while the circus blows through town, and you wonder how many youngsters are hitching themselves to its tailgates on the way out.
