Count this reader as someone who took away virtually nothing from his seventh grade haiku unit, still here is a book that negotiates the subject of old age and death as gracefully as the seasons, and manages to speak softly about ordinary kindness as well. With illustrations by the great G. Brian Karas at his deeply comforting best.
