The Books
One Potato Review
As seen on TV. The show’s pretty good, but these books are terrific – and prodigiously homemade. Child uses graph paper and wrapping paper and photographs of cookies and rotary telephones and anything else she can get her hands on apparently. The result can be dizzying, but so can some of Lola’s rationalizations; loopiness is kind of the point. An always-welcome appearance by Lola’s diaphanous friend Soren Lorensen, who looks better on the page (like everything else) where you have to go searching for him.
