The Trouble with Normal

by Charise Mericle Harper

One Potato Review

There’s some remarkable behavior going on in the windows of Normal Towers, observes Finnigan, a sunglasses-wearing squirrel who happens to aspire to a career in the Secret Service. We’re odder (and frequently better) than we let on when we know everyone’s watching. That is Finnigan’s discovery (the President recruits him for it), and it takes an odd and remarkable talent to be able to make that case well. Harper is that, and playful, and probably a little generous, but we do not suffer from these reminders that our friends and neighbors can often amount to more than we presumed.
