Leo the Late Bloomer

by Robert Kraus
Illustrated by Jose Aruego

One Potato Review

The little tiger that couldn’t. “A watched bloomer doesn’t bloom,” reminds Leo’s mother, whereupon dad kicks back and watches some TV. Then does Leo go out and become king of the jungle? He does not, but he stops spilling his dinner all over himself at least, becoming merely competent amid all of the fauna and eye-popping flora – maybe the sincerest aspiration of anyone who’s ever felt left behind. A small triumph.
