From 1965, the speculative ramblings of a boy around the farm - starting with a bird that needs to to get rescued from a stalking cat, through a pig napping in mud, and a rabbit that looks like it hopped over from Ets’ In The Forest, the other in this twin set of woodcut masterpieces from which so many thousands of picture books seem to have evolved. Or not. Seminal, still unsurpassed.
