The Books
One Potato Review
Significantly, not a grown-up in sight till the end. Peter wakes up, sees the snow out his window covering “everything as far as he could see,” and gets his own Odysseus on, alone with his imagination and a stick, though finally not without this author-and-illustrator’s characteristic brush with menace – here a bunch of snowball-hurling “big boys” – before retiring to his bathtub at the end of his adventures to think and think and think about them. It’s not by accident this is probably one of the first board books you will ever chew on, and one of the last before you move on to bigger things.
