The Books
One Potato Review
The blessings of missed connections, even when someone as sure-handed as Ljungkvist is drawing the line. This is an artist whose work has graced the pages of magazines as diverse as The New Yorker and Mademoiselle, and it’s not that hard to see why: though simple and stylish, with an eye for striking patterns, she’s also a lot of fun. Here it’s her zippy wordplay that is the revelation, when “a steak to kabob” becomes “a snake and a snob,” and Toni’s guests are forced to make do with a stranger and a spy, not a strawberry pie, still everyone ends up pretty satisfied with the results of good old-fashioned serendipity, or inefficiency, depending on your perspective in this, the age of dotted i‘s. Here’s an app for that.
