The Books
One Potato Review
James Marshall cannot seem to help himself sometimes, and his slapstick instincts serve this classic well. The worst things about fables are often the lessons they fail to effectively impart, but this is a sufficiently off-kilter rendering of the original to remind us of its enduring silliness. No illustrator this side of J. Otto Seibold has ever managed to wring such deadpan expressiveness out of simple cartoon animals. Funny. Effortless. For every age.
