The Books
One Potato Review
Most books about rivers tell of something being conveyed – pine cones, tugboats, messages in bottles – but here is a story about nothing less remarkable than the everyday miracle of brooks in the mountains that become our baths and highways and refreshments in the city and beyond – in short, the driving life force we often take for granted. Pollard’s simple text and colorful illustrations make this particularly accessible to very young readers, but the geometry of water may leave an impression on anyone more accustomed to the swells and rushing torrents of the Discovery Channel.
