The Books
One Potato Review
To Ancient Greece where a Max-alike Midas deploys laser-beams (actually they look like cherry syrup squirting out of his eyes) to make chocolate sundaes from prune whip, cake from muffins, and many collateral accidents besides. To his credit (and as a testament to these books’ continuing popularity) Max remains unconvinced. These stories work better (it says here) on the page than on the television where Max’s enigmatic postscript – “Good night, Beautiful,” he whispers to a cupcake – sounds like an afterthought rather than a mission statement.
