More in common here with Waber’s seminal Courage than the rollicking glibness of Lyle Crocodile and it’s many extrapolations. Nothing wrong with Lyle of course – who can resist such a big-hearted reptile? – but this story limits its focus to the very real insecurities we’re impatient to outgrow, and also the relative braveness we are in the habit of assuming about others. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, usually. Heartfelt. A useful reminder.
