The Books

One Potato Review

Exactly what it looks like; between the too-vertical layout and endearingly translated title, here is a book that apparently evaded the regular marketing drones. Without very much in the way of narrative wholesomeness then, or spiritual pandering, this author and maximalist illustrator gives us Samarkand (in Uzbekistan), Fernando de Noronha (in Brazil), Dakar (in Senegal), Sofia (in Bulgaria) and Nuuk (in Greenland), as well as some old standbys like Paris and San Francisco. It’s all pretty thrilling, plus there is a helpful little addendum on time zones for anyone inclined to try and explain (or understand) them.
