Meta. The big lonely wolf writes a wishful little story about himself that doesn’t end as politely as he hoped, but then he just can’t help himself - in fiction or in life? A welcome open ending that is probably not too menacing for even the youngest of budding existentialists. This is what picture books can be. With mischievous watercolor illustrations from an artist who isn’t afraid of the form.
