Amazon Description
The author of Max Makes a Million takes young readers into a mysterious world peopled by a composer, a firewoman, a doorman, a short-order cook, an astronomer, and individuals with other fascinating careers. One Potato Review
For older readers mostly. It’s easy to get lost here, between all of Kalman’s trippy phrasing and funny names and secondary wonderings - but, oh, the characters you’ll meet! No incomplete list can do justice to the breadth of callings in this book, but Kalman’s imaginings (or reminiscences) include a paraplegic composer, a tin-can wearing performance artist and an apparently eight-armed short-order cook. On the final two pages younger readers may even catch a glimpse of some future version of themselves: a ventriloquist, a word yeller, a do gooder, a dot dotter, a mathematician…. Inspiring and inspired.
